Overview:
Somewhere in Thrall’s files on guilds that serve the Horde:
File Reference #A1B27G Hammer of the Ancients
Long-standing guild who appear to serve the cause of the Horde. Information regarding this group is sketchy but we have gathered some basic information.
Hammer of the Ancients is dedicated to the worship of the Ancient Gods. These Ancients are most directly personified by four Aspects: the Skyfather, the Deep One, The Earthmother and the Living Flame. Each Aspect has its own group of followers and sometimes seem at odds with each other’s beliefs. The guild is led by a council of three Elders, each of whom has certain responsibilities for the Spiritual and physical well-being of the guild's members. Though the higher-ranking members of the guild are divided into “clans” dedicated to a single Aspect, they are united as a single tribe and work toward a united purpose. New recruits are given the chance to learn the teachings of each Ancient before joining one of the clans.
Their name, “Hammer of the Ancients”, describes the guild’s purpose. A hammer can be a tool or a weapon, depending on how it is wielded. The guild can and will be an agent of peace, war, change, etc. dependent upon the will of the Ancients and the guidance of the council.
End of Report
OOC – Hammer of the Ancients is a friendly guild with an emphasis on role-playing. Our goal is to create a mature RP environment while running PVE instances and dabbling in PVP. We hope to maintain high standards for regular in character interaction but remain “user friendly” for players new to RP.
We serve the will of the Ancients. Our deeds and actions reflect not only on ourselves but on them. Conduct yourself with honor and glory will be yours.
OOC Interpretation – We intend to be an active guild, heading into instances and actively role-playing. Our aim is have a mature environment, so be respectful to others. This includes players outside the guild. Your actions reflect on the guild as a whole and we won’t tolerate ass-monkeys. By the same token, we are all people who enjoy this game and, as such, will not tolerate cheating, whether that means actual hacks being used, power-leveling, or even buying gold from farmers. However, we are not completely closed to bending certain rules (See Mercy of the Ancients). If a lower-level player has made an honest effort to get an instance completed, for example, and keeps failing, of course it is acceptable for a higher-level character to help out.
The Ancients teach that wisdom is not merely knowing what to do, but when and why to do it.
OOC Interpretation – Twofold. First, remember that RP is a shared experience; acting like a jerk ruins it for everyone. We’ll be posting some general guidelines for RP, familiarize yourself with them. Second, simply put, please no Leeroy Jenkins... while we all make mistakes, we believe that five well-played characters with a fundamental grasp of tactics are more enjoyable and more effective than ten poor ones trying to zerg through an instance.
The Ancients teach that there is time and place for war and a time and place to stay your weapons. In the heat of battle, it is easy to let bloodlust cloud your judgment and turn you into the monster you claim to fight. Remember, the massacre of whelps gains you no glory.
OOC Interpretation: No member of this guild will be involved with ganking or any other deplorable PVP behavior (e.g. spitting on fallen foes). In battlegrounds we do not camp their graveyards to farm honor, and we do not massacre those who are grey to us. There is no room for negative PVP behavior within the guild, it brings us a bad reputation and there is no reason for it.
The blood of the Ancients flows in all our veins, it is the tie that binds us. Help your brothers and sisters within the tribe.
OOC Interpretation: Our goal is to be a close, friendly guild. We plan on having regular in character meetings and events. We don't want people to feel like a number in some great mob, but like part of a family that seeks to help each other out when possible (and within reason). Be it with RP, crafting something, helping someone finish that one last part of some quest chain or running an instance for a coveted piece of gear.
