Ionais Arkwright stood at the bar cackling as he pinched the bar maiden's ass, sending her running to the back.
“Oh what I would do to that woman. Sweet piece,” he said aloud, laughing and spewing the ale he had in his mouth across the bar and on everyone near him.
A man in the corner of the bar raised his glass and his arm, gesturing for silence. Ionais knew him well; he was his brother and mayor of the small town of Hithe. Ionais groaned as his brother began another of his long-winded talks.
“Brothers and Sisters,” Ramuus began. “We have been sent word, the Lich King’s eyes have been set on our small town. The legions of his scourge will fall on us tonight, so I say this...”
In the middle of Ramuus’s dramatic pause Ionais yelled, “Get on with it”, sick of the story already, wanting it to end so he could order another round. The bartender was too caught up in his brother's story to pay him any heed.
“We will all die this night,” Ramuus continued through the gasps “There is nothing we can do,” he added sadly, before raising his voice into an almost cheer “…so we shall go out the way we came into this world, blind and unable to stand!”
As he finished the doors of the inn burst open and a line of man after man came in carrying barrel after barrel of ale.
“…And just like when we came into this world, not being able to walk will cost us nothing!” he said to an eruption of cheers and pushing towards the kegs, everyone filling their cups and beginning to sing aloud. Even Ionais was filling his cup and drinking as fast as he could, not so much out of fear, which was the case for most, but for the fact that it was free.
Ionais’s attention was so diverted he didn’t see the bar maiden return with a hulking man the size of a rampaging orc. “You grubby little bastard,” the beast of a man began, “Keep your bloody hands off my woman”
Ionais was in no mood to be told what to, he was still facing the keg at the end of the bar when he said, “How about you suck my…” before the beast of a man swung and connected with the back of Ionais’s head. It snapped forward from the blow, Ionais meeting his end as his jaw made a sickening snap as it hit the bar’s edge.
No one mourned him that night. They quickly put him in a shallow grave, half covered, with a cross that read only part of his name “Ion Ark”, scribbled by a person obviously drunk.
The town went back to their party without so much as a hiccup over the death of Ionais. There was no call when the undead scourge surrounded the town and descended on the inn. The first screams came from a woman who walked into a man, long since dead, flesh hanging from his face, a bite mark on his forehead long since bloodless, showing the grey and dirty skull that sat behind. The bar maiden’s scream was cut short as the undead man clutched her neck with one hand and twisted her face with the other. That loud snap was the starting gun for the screams that followed. The only pity shown on the town was that most of their deaths were fast, the rest lay dead and dying where only minutes before they were dancing.
The night ended and the scourge moved on, leaving the small town of Hithe soundless, at least until the morning, when the town would join their murderers in service of the Lich King.

“Arise, Ionark.” A booming voice filled Ionais’s head, as he pushed himself up with the one hand still sticking out of his shallow grave. “You will serve the Lich king, kill, destroy, burn”.
“I like the way this guy thinks” Ionais thought to himself.
“You WILL serve him Ionark” the voice without a body said as Ionais turned and saw his entire town rise from the dead.
“The hell with thishhhh” He said, grabbing his broken jaw, in shock at his inability to, lift the left side of it, and pronounce “S”. “Are you kidding me with this shhh-it”
“YOU WILL SERVE HIM IONARK” the voice boomed again.
“Hell no I won’t” Ionais said “But I like the name, I think I’ll keep it, thankshhh voicey!”
“Then you will die” The voice said as Ionark saw a beast of a man head towards him.
“Oh great. Here we go again” Ionark said as he started to get ready for a pumbling, he noticed a purple silhouette cover himself. “More weird shhh-it” Ionark added before a flaming creature, standing about a foot and a half high, appeared beside him.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” Ionark screamed as he kicked the little beast as hard as he could and watched it fly a good 50 feet before hitting the ground hard. The little beast got up shook its head, and started running back towards Ionark.
Now having something trying to kill him on each side, Ionark covered his head as he watched the little beast start to conjure a ball of flame in its hands.
The Next thing Ionark heard was the beast of a man screaming, mere feet from him, Ionark looked up and laughed as the man, now engulfed in flames, burned to death. “Why the hell did you do that” He said to the little beast by his side
“I am bound to do as you command” a squeaky little voice chirped out.
“Really?!?” Ionark said, pausing to think. “Then go kill that woman” Ionark said as he saw the bar maiden that had gotten him killed coming around a corner, her neck slightly ajar.
“Can’t you DO this yourself?” the little beast squeaked in protest.
Ionark raised his arm and full on backhanded the little impish beast “YOU WILL DO AS-HHH I SHHH-AY!” he screamed, laughing as the beast did what it was told.
